VANSHIKA'S POV
Upon entering my room, I felt utterly drained by the day's events. A part of me regretted not having pushed Rohan further, but his subsequent suspension was, without a doubt, a welcome development. It was just as Rohan was about to strike me that Raghav appeared. In that instant, a strange sensation washed over me—a jolt, as if the world had momentarily shifted on its axis. As our eyes met, a peculiar warmth bloomed within me, an unbidden awareness that this encounter was more significant than I could yet comprehend.
I was drawn out of my thoughts as my phone screen illuminated with an incoming call from my parents. A wave of happiness washed over me, and a smile instinctively appeared on ny face as I promptly answered.
"Hellooo!!!" I exclaimed, my voice brimming with excitement.
"Hello, mera baccha kesa hai?" Saroj inquired warmly.
"Mai theek hu maa,aap kese ho?" Vanshika responded.
"Mai bhi theek hu,tujhe toh yaad aati hi nahi hai humari!" Soni asked playfully.
"Areey..maa mujhe aati hai yaad aapki!!" Vanshika replied.
"Accha, toh sirf mummy ki yaad aati hai papa ki nahi?" Vineet interjected.
"Areey aesa nahi hai papa! Mujhe aap ki bhi yaad aati hai aur merese zada toh uncle yaad karte hai aapko!" Vanshika countered.
"Karega hi na, afterall mai itna accha dost jo hu!" Vineet stated proudly.
"Yeah, of course. Bhaiya kaha hai?" Vanshika asked.
"Wo bahar Gaya hai cricket khelne apne dosto ke saath," Soni informed her
"Aur college ka pehla din kaisa gaya?" Vineet questioned.
"Oh, Dad, don't even ask! It was terrible!" Vanshika exclaimed.
"Kyu?Kya hua?" Soni asked with concern.
Vanshika then recounted the entire day's events: the incident with Rohan, the fight, how she had punched him, meeting Raghav and his friends Abhiman and Navya, and finally, discovering that the entire university belonged to Raghav's family.
"OMG, all that happened?" Soni gasped, placing a hand on her chest.
"Beta, tu theek hai na?" Vineet asked, his voice laced with worry.
"Ha papa mai theek hu!" Vanshika reassured him.
"For the first time, you've done something right! Otherwise, you usually hit people without any reason," Soni teased.
"What, Mom? It's not like that; I don't hit anyone without a reason! If they provoke me, what am I supposed to do?" Vanshika retorted.
"Bhai ye sab toh theek hai,but puri University Raghav ke family ki hai, unbelievable!" Vineet exclaimed.
"Humara bhi yahi reaction tha papa. Then we just let it go and enjoyed ourselves," Vanshika explained.
"Beta tum teeno dhyan se rehena!" Soni advised.
"Ha mumma!," Vanshika replied. They continued talking for a while longer before ending the call. Vanshika then headed towards her bed and fell asleep.

SHARMA MANSION
RAGHAV'S POV
I entered my room and immediately collapsed onto the bed, utterly exhausted by the day's events. I lay there, replaying everything that had transpired. A peculiar, unfamiliar sensation stirred within me as I recalled the moment my gaze met hers. I'd been lost in those dark eyes, struck by how profoundly different she was from anyone I had encountered before. It was an unexpected jolt, a silent acknowledgment of something compelling and intriguing that I couldn't quite articulate.
I was drawn out of my thoughts as my phone screen illuminated with an incoming call from my friends. I immediately picked up and answered.
"Aur bhai ki haal chaal??" Abhiman inquired.
"Kya hi batau yaar thak gaya bhai bahut!!" Raghav replied.
"Vanshika ko dekh ke??" Navya teased.
"Areey yaar sab log kyu peecha pad rahe hai mere!!!" Raghav retorted, clearly annoyed.
"Kyu baki sab ne bhi kaha kya??" Abhiman asked.
"Aur nahi toh kya jab se pure parivar ko bataya sab log ched rahe hai !!" Raghav confirmed.
"Awleee.....bacche ko chhed rahe hai aur baccha chhid gaya??" Abhiman prodded playfully.
"Haha!!!" Navya laughed.
"Abbee!saaloo chup karooo!!! " Raghav exclaimed, his annoyance evident.
"Nah hahaha!!!!" Abhiman continued, laughing.
They continued their playful banter, teasing each other and laughing for a while before eventually concluding the call and heading to bed.

The next morning, the University buzzed with a renewed energy. Sunlight streamed through the large, arched windows of the old stone buildings, illuminating the vibrant green of the sprawling lawns where students already gathered, laughing and chatting. The air was filled with the faint scent of freshly cut grass and the distant hum of traffic, punctuated by the occasional bell chiming from the clock tower. Inside, the corridors echoed with the lively chatter of students heading to their classes, a palpable sense of anticipation for the day's learning and social events.
Vanshika, Raghav, Abhiman, Ishana, Vihaan, and Navya were all in their respective classes, diligently absorbing the lecture. Their pens moved across notebooks, occasionally pausing as they leaned forward, eyes fixed on the professor, a clear sign of their keen interest.
After the lecture concluded, a professor entered the room, addressing the students.
"Good morning, everyone! Just a quick announcement regarding the upcoming Freshers' Party. It's scheduled for next Saturday evening at the main auditorium. There will be music, food, and plenty of opportunities to mingle and get to know your peers. We highly encourage everyone to attend and make the most of this social event."
A ripple of excited whispers spread through the lecture hall as students immediately began discussing the announcement. Among them, the friends convened, though a slight tension still lingered from recent events..
"Okay, Freshers' Party!" Navya's eyes sparkled, though she glanced quickly at Vanshika. "Ladkiyo! Hume abhi se apne outfits decide kar lene chahiye!"
Vanshika nodded, a little more reserved than before. "Exactly! But most importantly comfortable hona chahiye. No tripping hazards for me."
Ishana chuckled, sensing the shift. "Comfortable? Vanshika, this is your chance to shine! Go for glamour!"
Meanwhile, the boys had their own priorities, and their banter had a sharper edge than usual.
"Party, huh?" Vihaan grinned, nudging Raghav a little harder than necessary. "Time to unleash the inner rockstar. Naye haircut ke bare mai koi plan hai, Raghav? Impress a certain someone?"
Raghav's jaw tightened slightly. "Very funny, Vihaan. And no, I'm just planning on not looking like I just rolled out of bed, unlike some people." He shot a pointed glance at Abhiman, clearly referencing their previous argument.
Abhiman scoffed, meeting Raghav's gaze. "Hey! My 'just rolled out of bed' look is a style statement, thank you very much. But seriously, this party could be interesting. Maybe they'll have actual good food this time. At least that won't start a fight."
"Humesha khane ke baare mai hi sochta hai tu, Abhiii?" Navya called over, trying to diffuse the tension.
"Priorities, Navya, priorities!" Abhiman retorted, though his eyes remained on Raghav for a moment too long. "Besides,Raghav toh kisi aur ko dekhne ke chakar mai khane ko notice karega." He smirked at Raghav.
Raghav groaned, his annoyance more genuine this time. "Oh, come on! Phir se nahi!"
"Aw, little Raghav is shy!" Navya teased, clapping him on the back with a little more force.
"Shy? He's practically a professional 'accidentally' bumping into her," Abhiman chimed in, making a few people laugh, though Vanshika just subtly shifted her weight.
Raghav threw his hands up in mock surrender, but there was a flicker of genuine frustration. "You guys are impossible! I'm just trying to survive college without being constantly interrogated about my non-existent love life, especially when there are already enough problems!"
"Non-existent? We've seen the way you conveniently end up in her vicinity, Raghav!" Abhiman said, his voice laced with an undeniable challenge. "Or have you conveniently forgotten everything else that's happened recently?"
"Just admit it, you're excited to see Vanshika at the party," Navya said, a playful smirk on her face, but she watched Vanshika's reaction carefully.
Raghav's cheeks flushed slightly, and he glared at Abhiman. "I'm excited for the free food, thank you very much. And the company of my actual friends, who aren't constantly trying to set me up or bring up old crap!"
"Keep telling yourself that, buddy," Abhiman chuckled, and the group dissolved into more laughter and sharp jabs, Just then,
"Hey, baby!" a voice cut through the buzzing campus air.
Vanshika spun around, her expression quickly shifting from relaxed to an abrupt shock, then intense annoyance. Standing there was Ajay Mathur. The sight of him immediately stiffened her posture, and the irritation was palpable not just from her, but also from Vihaan and Ishana. Raghav, Abhiman, and Navya, however, looked completely bewildered by the sudden shift in atmosphere.
Ajay, oblivious to the obvious discomfort he was causing, smirked. "So, still playing hard to get, Vanshika? Why can't you just accept my proposal? We'd be great together."
Vanshika, ever the picture of savage confidence, crossed her arms. She took a slow, deep breath, visibly trying to rein in her temper before speaking. "Ajay, kitni baar mujhe tumhe kehen padega? The answer is no. It's always been no, and it will always be no. Mujhe tum me koi interest nahi hai,na abhi aur na kabhi." Her voice was calm, but the underlying steel was unmistakable.
Ajay chuckled, as if her words were just part of a game. "Come on,a beautiful girl like you, you can't tell me you haven't thought about it. Ek baar chance de ke toh dekho." He took a step closer.
"Kis liye chance, Ajay? To prove again how little you respect my boundaries?"
Vanshika's patience was wearing thin. "I have no interest in you, and frankly, your persistence is beyond annoying."
"But why not? What's wrong with me?" Ajay pressed, his voice laced with a frustrating blend of entitlement and feigned hurt. "Is it someone else? Is it that guy you're always with?" His eyes flickered towards Raghav, who was calm, whereas Abhiman and Navya, exchanged confused glances.
Vanshika opened her mouth to deliver another sharp retort, but before she could, Raghav stepped forward, his usual relaxed demeanor replaced by a calm, firm resolve. He walked directly up to Vanshika and, to everyone's surprise, gently took her hand, intertwining their fingers.
Raghav looked directly at Ajay, his gaze steady. "Issne tumse kaha na,ki usse tum mai koi interest nahi hai?"
Ajay's eyes narrowed, his previous smugness fading. He looked at Raghav's hand holding Vanshika's, then back to his face. "Aur tum kon ho?Jo isse support kar rahe ho! Tumhari girlfriend hai kya?" he sneered, a challenging tone in his voice.
Raghav tightened his grip on Vanshika's hand, his thumb gently caressing her knuckles. He met Ajay's gaze without flinching. "Yes, she is."
Vanshika's eyes widened, a flicker of pure shock crossing her face. She felt a jolt at Raghav's words and the warmth of his hand in hers, turning her head slightly to look at him, completely taken aback. Abhiman Ishana and Vihaan looked utterly stunned, while Navya covered her mouth, trying to stifle a gasp.
A stunned silence fell over the group. Ajay's face contorted in a mix of fury and disbelief. His jaw clenched, and for a moment, it looked like he might explode. He took a step back, his eyes burning into Vanshika.
"Pachtaogi, Vanshika," Ajay spat, his voice low and venomous. Without another word, he turned sharply and stormed off, disappearing into the crowd of students.
Vanshika's mind reeled for a moment, the shock of Raghav's declaration momentarily paralyzing her. Then, as Ajay's retreating figure vanished, she slowly came back to herself and turned, looking at Raghav who was already watching her, a mixture of apprehension and resolve in his eyes.
"Tum... Aesa kyu kaha?" Vanshika asked, her voice barely above a whisper, her hand still clasped in his. She gestured vaguely towards where Ajay had stood.
Raghav took a deep breath, looking around at their friends who were now gathered closer, their expressions a mix of confusion and dawning understanding.
"Kyuki wo tumhe chain se jeene nahi dega, Vanshika," Raghav stated simply, his grip on her hand firm. "Tum usse kab se mana kar rahi thi,aur I guess kafi samay se. I don't know wo kon hai kya hai and he clearly doesn't understand polite rejection, or even outright anger. Sometimes, you need a different kind of deterrent." He paused, meeting her gaze directly. "He needed to hear something that would make him back off completely, something that indicated you were definitively off-limits. And honestly," he added, a slight edge entering his voice, "watching him harass you like that, I just reacted. It was the quickest way to shut him down and get him out of your space."
Vihaan nodded slowly, a knowing look passing between him and Navya. "Ye sahi kehe raha hai, Vanshii. Ajay humesha aese karta hai tujhe pareshan karta hai,aur Raghav ne jo kiya wahi sahi tha warna phir pata nahi baat kaha se kaha jaati."
"Vese ye chutiya tha kon?" Abhiman asked, still looking puzzled.
"Aur tumhe uska proposal accept karne ko baar baar kyu kahe Raha tha?" Ishana added, frowning.
Ishana stepped in, quickly filling them in. "Ye Ajay Mathur tha. Ye kafi samay se Vanshika ke peeche pada hua hai, though issne kayi baar mana kiya but phir bhi wo peeche pada hua hai. "
Abhiman's eyes widened in understanding. "Ah, so a classic stalker type. Samajh gaya."
"Aur tune apne aap ko shanth rakhne ki kafi koshish kar rahi thi," Ishana added, looking at Vanshika, "aur tu toh almost uska muh todne wali thi and fir koi bawal ho jata. So,he needed a stronger push."
Raghav looked at Abhiman and Ishana. "Exactly. He doesn't listen to reason. I figured claiming you were already 'taken' was the only way to make him back off for good."
Navya, too, looked at Vanshika. "Wo tere sir pe kafi Chad Raha tha. Ho sakta hai ki iss se wo shanth betha rahe."
They all waited, a collective silence falling as Vanshika processed their words, and more importantly, Raghav's actions. She looked at their intertwined hands, then back at Raghav's earnest face. The initial shock began to subside, replaced by a slow recognition of the truth in his words. Ajay wouldn't have stopped. His persistence was a constant source of stress. And Raghav, in that moment, had instinctively stepped in to protect her in the most definitive way possible.
After a long moment, Vanshika slowly nodded, a quiet acknowledgment. A faint, almost imperceptible warmth spread through her chest from where their hands met. She didn't pull away.
A collective sigh of relief passed through the group. To lighten the atmosphere, Ishana quickly pivoted the conversation.
"Okay, aaj ke liye kafi hai ye sab! Ab Freshers' Party ke baare mai baat kare!" Ishana said brightly, a smile spreading across her face.
"Mai soch rahi hu ki hum saree pehene, us all in traditional wear!"
Navya's eyes lit up. "Ooh,saree! Kafi accha idea hai ishuu! Hum teeno kitne mast lagenge!."
Vanshika, still feeling the lingering warmth from Raghav's hand, managed a small smile. "Saree kafi acchi rahegi I'm in guys. Aur casual wear se haat ke rahegi."
As the girls launched into an animated discussion about fabrics, colors, and designs, Abhiman subtly leaned towards Raghav and Vanshika, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"So," he whispered, low enough for only them to hear, "sach mai boyfriend girlfriend ban ne ka irada hai kya tum dono ka?"
Both Raghav and Vanshika froze, their faces a sudden mask of confusion. They looked at each other, then down at their clasped hands, still intertwined. It was only then that they realized their hands were still joined, a silent testament to the recent drama.
Vanshika's cheeks immediately flushed a deep crimson, and she quickly, though gently, pulled her hand away, her gaze darting away from Raghav's.
"Abhiman! Tu kya bol raha hai?" she stammered, attempting to sound indignant but failing.
Raghav, on the other hand, tried desperately to suppress a blush, clearing his throat and attempting to look nonchalant. Abhiman burst into a fit of soft laughter, clearly enjoying their awkwardness.
"Anyway!" Vanshika exclaimed, turning abruptly towards Navya and Ishana, her voice a little louder than necessary. "So, for the saree, silk saree ya net? I'm leaning towards something that drapes well, not too heavy." She plunged into the party discussion with renewed vigor, strategically placing herself a little further from Raghav.
Meanwhile, Raghav's gaze kept drifting back to Vanshika. He watched her animatedly discussing sarees, the way her hair fell around her shoulders as she gestured, the light in her eyes when she was excited. It wasn't just admiration; there was a tender, almost longing quality to his look, a quiet wonder that seemed to recognize something profound, something he was only just beginning to understand.
Abhiman, ever observant, noticed Raghav's lingering attention and simply chuckled. nudging him lightly. Then they all decided to head to the canteen.

"Bhai ye freshers party outfits decide karna kitna stressful hai yaar ," Vanshika groaned, pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Saree theek hai, lekin konse type aur colour ki?"
"Sahi Mai yaar!" Ishana chimed in, swirling her fork in her pasta. "Maine abhi ek emerald green colour ki raw silk saree dekhi, but navya ne bola ki wo thoda 'aunty chic' type ki lagegi."
Navya, ever the trendsetter, dramatically fanned herself with a napkin. "Darling, hume accha dikhna hai auntio ki tarha nahi dikhna. Jitne bhi saariya dekhi hai sari aunty types hai,mai soch rahi hu ki ye pastel colour ki saree lelu!"
"Seriously Navya, pastel colour ?" Abhiman scoffed from across the table, his eyes still glued to his phone. "Party mai Jaa rahi hai kisi ke godh bharai mai nahi."
Vihaan, always ready with a quip, smirked. "Uski baat mat suno navya. Uske liye fashion sirf daily different designer ki hoodie pehena hai."
Abhiman finally looked up, feigning offense. "Abbe! My hoodies are limited edition and cost more than your entire wardrobe combined, Vihaan."
"A detail I'm sure you remind everyone of daily, Abhiman," Vanshika said, rolling her eyes playfully. "But seriously, boys, opinion do yaar saree ke upar! Aese mat betho ki tum teeno apne stock portfolio ko calculate kar rahe ho!"
Raghav, who had been quietly enjoying his sandwich, piped up, "Accha ok. So what about ummm....sapphire blue? It's classic, it's rich, and it definitely screams 'I arrived in a chauffeured Bentley.'"
Ishana's eyes lit up. "Bhai Raghav, kya mast colour bola hai yaar! Sapphire blue with some intricate silver embroidery... that could be stunning."
"See? Raghav gets it,"Navya said, nudging Vanshika. "Not everything has to be a muted watercolour."
Ishana, however, was not convinced. "But would it pop enough for a fresher's party? We need something that screams 'future CEO, but also I know how to have a good time."
"Agar aesa hai toh," Vihaan interjected, taking a long sip of his iced tea, "why not a classic black? It's universally flattering, and you can always accessorize with some ridiculously expensive diamonds."
"Vihaan, you're a genius!" Navya exclaimed, high-fiving him. "Ek black net saree with diamond jewellery, hayee kya mast combination banega! with our Birkin bags!"
Abhiman snorted. "Bhai tum log aese dikhoge jese ki tum ek high-society funeral pe jaa rahe ho freshers party ki jagha. Wahi peheno jisme comfortable ho. Tum log Ameer ho aur koi bhi tumhe judge nahi karega agar tum sweat pants aur shirt mai bhi aaoge toh."
"Abhiman, darling," Ishana sighed dramatically, "comfort is for when we're lounging on our yachts, not for making a grand entrance."
"Exactly!" Navya agreed. "This isn't just about the party; it's about setting the tone for the next four years. We need to look like we own the place, because let's be real, we probably will."
The girls burst into laughter, while the boys shook their heads, a mix of amusement and resignation on their faces. The discussion continued, the canteen buzzing with their animated chatter, plans for designer fittings and exclusive jewelry beginning to take shape.

"Finally, freedom!" Abhiman stretched luxuriously as he stepped out of the car, adjusting his designer backpack. He, Navya, and Raghav had just pulled up to Raghav's mansion, having escaped the clutches of their college classes. "Bhai yaar kamar akad gayi!!"
"Tell me about it," Navya groaned, running a hand through her hair. "Mere toh dimag ka dahi ho gaya hai,ab toh sirf khana hi mujhe theek kar sakta hai!"
Raghav chuckled, leading them towards the grand entrance. "Well, mummy ne zarur kuch banaya hoga toh jaldi chalo warna Sakshi hi pura khatam kar degi!"
As if on cue, the moment the front door swung open, a flurry of activity erupted.
"Aa gaya beta!" Parwati exclaimed, pulling her son into a warm hug. "Areey wah!! Mere do anmol ratn bhi aaye hai!!" She pulled both Abhiman and Navya into equally warm embraces.
Navya smiled, her eyes twinkling. "Aunty, mene aapko aur aapke hath ke Bane hue khane ko Bahut miss kiya!!"
"Ha meri bacchi tu Aram se Beth mai tere liye kuch leke aati hu," Parwati gestured towards the plush sofas in the sprawling living room.
" Bhaiyaa! Didi!"Sakshi, Raghav's younger sister, bounced over, giving Navya a quick hug and punching Abhiman playfully on the arm.
Shaurya and Aditya, the terrors of the household, ambushed Raghav with playful shoves. "Bhaiya, aap humare liye kuch leke aaye kya?" Aditya demanded.
"Bas tera favorite bhaiya leke aaya hu," Raghav quipped, ruffling their hair.
Just then, Sanjana, Raghav's chachi, glided into the room. "Kya baat hai teeno toli yaha!!!
" Hello chachiiii!" They both said in union.
Just then, Rajeev, Raghav's father, entered, followed by his younger brother, Sanjeev.
"Aa gaye baccho!" Said Rajeev, his eyes twinkling. "Areey wahh! Abhiman, Navya tum bhi ho!"
"Hello uncle!!," Abhiman said, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Bhai college se aake itne thak gaye ki bas hum toh aa gaye apni pyaari aunty ke hath ka khana khane!"
"Oh, he's just saying that because he's embarrassed we still make him do his chores," Sakshi teased, earning a playful glare from Raghav.
"Speaking of embarrassing," Abhiman continued, leaning forward conspiratorially, "aap logo ko pata nahi hai aaj isne kya kiya!!."
Raghav's eyes widened. "Abhiman, nahi yaar!sabke samne nahi yaar pleasee!!"
"Ab toh bata beta tu!" Parwati urged, intrigued, settling onto a sofa. Sanjana leaned forward eagerly, a knowing smile playing on her lips.
"Well," Abhiman began, ignoring Raghav's panicked gestures, "Ek Banda hai Ajay Mathur naam ka,jo Vanshika ko kafi pareshan kar Raha tha,aap Vanshika ko jaante ho na? Humari nai dost".
Parwati nodded. "Han wahi Vanshika na jisne Rohan ko maara tha."
"Exactly!" Abhiman said, warming to his story. "So, ye banda usse kafi pareshan kar ta hai, usse apni girlfriend banane ko force karta reheta hai aur aaj bhi usne Kiya,So humare Raghav ne uske liye stand liya aur apne aap ko Vanshika ka BOYFRIEND GHOSHIT KARDIYAAA!!!!"
The room erupted in gasps. Sakshi shrieked, "Bhaiya, aapne kya kiya?!"
Shaurya and Aditya chanted, "Bhaiya has a girlfriend! Bhaiya has a girlfriend!" as they sat around a coffee table.
Raghav buried his face in his hands. "It was for her protection! Wo sach mai usse kafi pareshan kar Raha tha."
Navya chimed in dramatically, "Bhai aese hi nahi bola, uska hath apne hath mai leke uski nazron mai nazre mila ke genuinely kaha ki mai uska boyfriend huuuu!!! Vanshika ka chehra ek dam laal tamatar ban gaya aur uss Ajay ka toh chehra dekhne layak tha."
Sanjana clapped her hands. "Areey mera baccha,Always the protector. Apne papa aur chacha pe gaya hai!! Ek baar toh Bhaiya ne haathi ko Dara Diya Just because wo humare aam ke ped ko dekh raha tha."
"Haathi nahi bakri thi Sanjana" Rajeev corrected, a fond smile on his face.
Sanjeev, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke up, a twinkle in his eye. "So, Raghav, Toh ye boyfriend banne ka act sirf act hi hai yaa kuch aurrr...?"
Raghav groaned. "Chacha, please! Sach mai ye ek act hi hai nothing else and hum log sirf ek hafte pehle hi toh mile hai.."
"Kyu usse pehele milta toh sahi Mai ban jata?," Parwati chuckled, patting Raghav's arm. "Accha theek hai, but I'm glad ki tumne uski chhoti si hi sahi but help ki,I'm proud of you baccha."
"Chhoti?" Abhiman scoffed. "Oscar-winning performance thi aunty iski! Ek pal ke liye toh lag raha tha ki bhai sahi Mai uska boyfriend hai."
"Areey bas bhi karo na yaar!!" Raghav protested,
And the room once again filled with laughter, the easy banter flowing as the family and friends settled into a comfortable evening of shared stories and good-natured teasing, all the while knowing the real reason they were home: a much-needed break from college.
